A 14.5" x 10.75" original watercolor with ink painting by Raphaella Vaisseau, using her signature Color on Color layering technique. Framed in gold wood. To date, Journey is the only painting that originated in a dream. Not a dream I was in, but the image was shown to me in a dream, shortly after I began painting with watercolors. I awoke at 3 am on a winter night early in 1981 with a clear image of the painting. I found a pencil and made a sketch. Along with the image, I made notes about what it was saying to me. The zinnia design in the walls was reminiscent of my childhood love of the flower. However, in this case, the beauty is represented as a brick wall, a caution not to get lost in the beauty of the world, but instead to follow my own inner journey. By walking my own path and realizing my own destiny, transformation awaits on the other side. I believe this is true, not just for me, but for each one of us.
